This research was conducted to analyze the level of pollution due to greywater flowed into drainage system in Citarum riverbanks, Kabupaten Karawang. Research was carried out on the drainage channel around settlements in 6 villages. The parameters analyzed were TSS, COD, BOD, Oil and Grease compared to the standard Minister of Environment Regulation No.68 of 2016. The TSS parameters was 11-292 mg/L, COD 28.8-441.6 mg/L, BOD 18.01-298.36 mg/L, Oil and Grease 1.9-13 mg/L. Parameter of TSS at all sampling points were exceed the quality standard, while parameters of COD and BOD were exceed in the 4 villages. Parameter of Oil and Grease at all points was above the quality standard in February, while in April, it was below the quality standard. High pollution on drainage system could be caused by the entry of greywater into the drainage channel that would contribute to pollute the Citarum River. Load management of pollutants that enters the river is based on the self purification of the river. This study aims to analyze the river characteristics and degradation rate of Krukut River. Krukut River which is a research location has a length of ± 9.04 km. Characteristics of Krukut River has a type of small rocky riverbed and irregular with manning coefficient from 0.035 to 0.045. The depth ranging from 0,99 - 2 m, with a current velocity from 0,3 to 1,29 m/s. Krukut River discharge at 2,873-7,889 m3<br />/sec. Streeter Phelps modeling to find out the constant rate of degradation of Krukut River which resulted in the value of DO and BOD. The rate of increase of dissolved oxygen (Ka) with the value of Ka range of 1,586-4,542 d-1<br />, the standard value should be 1,494 d-1. The results of degradation rate (Kd) of the study obtained values range 0,285–0,394 d-1with a default value of 0,501 d-1. The pollution of downstream segment of Citarum River is caused by settlement, agriculture, farm, and industrial activities that dump their waste into river bodies. This causes a decrease in water quality and reduce the carrying capacity of the downstream segment of Citarum River pollutant. The purpose of this research was to analyze the pollutant load capacity (PLC) in downstream segment of Citarum River using QUAL2Kw model. This research was carried out downstream of Citarum River from segments 16 to 20 which were divided into 9 sections with 11 locations monitoring water quality. Sampling was carried out for 3 periods of observation that the sampling is done twice at each location using grab sampling method. Water quality parameters being modeled are BOD, COD, nitrate, and phosphate. The results of the simulation model of PLC for BOD was 14556.67 kg/day-23456.84 kg/day, COD was 24261.12 kg/day-39094.73 kg/day, nitrate was 24261.12 kg/day-39094.73 kg/day, and phosphate was 485.22 kg/day-781.89 kg/day. Overload of BOD was 0%-26%, COD was 61%-68%, phosphate was 78%-7%. This study aims to determine the effect of activities on the bank on Baru Barat River on the water quality. Identification of activities is carried out along the bank of river. Water quality parameters are compared with the Governor of Jakarta no. 582 year 2005. The status of water quality is determined using the Pollution Inde (PI). The activities around the Baru Barat River are settlements, officem workshop, schools, deales, food stall, laundry, shops, beauty salons, guesthouses and gas station. BOD concentration range from 8.4-43.7 mg/L with a quality standard of 10 mg/L and COD range from 16-99.2 mg/L with a quality standard of 20 mg/L. Concentration of BOD and COD that exceed of quality standard at almost all sampling ponts. The level of pollutionj in the Baru Barat River is moderate polluted. The main problem at Baru Barat River are the presence of several illegal waste point left from activities that eventually enter the river and the absence of waste water treatment. The concept of community based must be implemented to waste management and communal wastewater treatment that are easy, inexpensive and integrated with the landscape.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords</strong><strong>:</strong> Baru Barat River, river bank, water pollution index, river quality, domestic waste water</p> Ariane Pratiwi Melati Ferianita Fachrul Diana Irvindiaty Hendrawan Copyright (c) 2020-10-31 2020-10-31 26 2 49 60 10.5614/j.tl.2020.26.2.4 PENINJAUAN STATUS LINGKUNGAN EKSISTING SUNGAI MARIKINA, FILIPINA https://journals.itb.ac.id/index.php/jtl/article/view/15025 <p><strong>Abstract: </strong>The physico-chemical characteristics of the Marikina River in an urban area of Metro Manila, Philippines was determined to evaluate the current degree of pollution. The study focused on one source at the site with general coordinates of 14°38’07.95” N, 121°05’36.33” E based on the World Geodetic System (WGS), at an average surface water elevation of around 9 m above mean sea level (AMSL). The area was chosen because of its proximity to a main road and the presence of an outfall from a cemented pipe near a major shopping mall. Comparing the results from the sampling source with the DENR effluent standards for surface waters based on (DAO-2016-08, US-EPA), the effluent is considered as too polluted to be discharged to the surface water in terms of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS: 608.9 mg/L) and Phosphates (PO4: 12.46 mg/L). The pH (6.9) and Nitrate (0.17 mg/L) of the effluent conforms to standards. A Stream Visual Assessment Protocol was conducted with a resulting Protocol Score of 5.7, which is relatively low for a moving water body. The failure to conform to set standards using the physico-chemical components is supported by the land-use profile which shows that domestic (85%), industrial/commercial (10%) and agricultural wastes (5%) greatly affect the water quality of the river. It is our recommendation therefore that continuing information and education campaigns for the maintenance of water quality be regularly conducted for the residents along the riverbanks to create awareness of the importance of keeping the water clean through minimum direct waste contributions.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>Physico-Chemical characteristics, Marikina river, water quality</p> Marwin Crispino Eligia Clemente Copyright (c) 2020-10-31 2020-10-31 26 2 61 72 10.5614/j.tl.2020.26.2.5 ANALISIS DAYA TAMPUNG BEBAN PENCEMARAN KALI ASEM DI SEKITAR TPST BANTAR GEBANG DAN TPA SUMUR BATU https://journals.itb.ac.id/index.php/jtl/article/view/15026 <p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Beban pengelolaan sampah yang tinggi khususnya di kota besar dan metropolitan melatar belakangi lahirnya berbagai kebijakan. Undang-Undang Republik Indonesia Nomor 18 Tahun 2008 tentang Pengelolaan Sampah yang mengamanatkan adanya kerjasama dan kemitraan antar pemerintah daerah, badan usaha, dan masyarakat dalam melakukan pengelolaan sampah. Daya dukung lingkungan seharusnya menjadi salah satu pertimbangan dalam penyusunan dan penetapan rencana pengelolaan dan pemulihan lingkungan. Meskipun demikian, pada pelaksanaannya, perhitungan daya dukung lingkungan tidak mudah. Perencanaan bukan berdasarkan pada kemampuan lingkungan, melainkan kondisi yang sudah ada, yang kemungkinan sudah mengalami degradasi atau sudah terlampaui daya dukungnya.</p><p>Kondisi tersebut diperkirakan akan menimbulkan penurunan daya dukung lingkungan hidup di sekitar TPST Bantar Gebang dan TPA Sumur Batu, salah satunya adalah Kali Asem. Berdasarkan hal tersebut perlu dilakukan analisis daya tampung beban pencemaran  Kali Asem yang berada di sekitar TPST dan TPA tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis daya tampung beban pencemaran Kali Asem  untuk mengetahui kemampuan lingkungan  hidup  di  wilayah sekitar TPST Bantargebang Kota  Bekasi  untuk  mendukung  perikehidupan  manusia dan  mahluk hidup lainnya. Hingga tahun 2018 pembangunan dan pengembangan perumahan meningkat sangat signifikan. Terdapat 1.443 rumah terbangun beserta fasilitas lainnya di atas lahan seluas 40 hektar. Timbulan sampah yang dihasilkan oleh perumahan ini adalah sebesar 2,5 ton/hari dengan didominasi oleh sampah organik, plastik, dan juga B3. Dalam keberjalanan aktivitasnya, perumahan ini belum dilengkapi sistem pengelolaan persampahan yang baik. Eksisting pengelolaan dilakukan dengan pengangkutan <em>door-to-door </em>oleh DLH Kabupaten Bandung. Evaluasi kondisi eksisting persampahan dilakukan dengan penilaian pembobotan dan diperoleh nilai sebesar 2,94 yang dapat dikategorikan dalam kondisi cukup baik, meski memiliki nilai yang sangat kecil pada poin aspek teknis, kelembagaan, regulasi, dan partisipasi masyarakat. Sesuai evaluasi maka direncanakan sebuah TPS-3R untuk dapat mengakomodir sampah yang dihasilkan di Bumi Panyawangan namun dengan kapasitas yang terbatas sesuai dengan UKL-UPL Perumahan Bumi Panyawangan. Aktivitas yang ada di TPS-3R yaitu pengomposan, pencacahan sampah plastik, penyimpanan dan penjualan barang bernilai ekonomis, dan pengumpulan residu. Pengolahan sampah organik dilakukan dengan proses aerobik sesuai dengan penilaian dari variabel investasi, teknis, keberlanjutan, ketersediaan lahan, estetika, dan juga ekonomi.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Kata kunci: </strong>pengelolaan sampah, perumahan, pembobotan, TPS-3R</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>A</strong><strong>bstract: </strong><em>Bumi Panyawangan is a Real Estate target market for the upper-middle class. Until 2018 housing construction and development increased very significantly. There are 3,500 houses built along with other facilities on an area of 40 hectares. The waste generation generated by this housing is 2.5 tonnes/day dominated by organic, plastic, and hazardous waste. In its activities, this housing estate is not equipped with a good solid waste management system. The existing management is carried out by door-to-door transportation by DLH Bandung Regency. Evaluation of the existing condition of solid waste is carried out by weighting assessment and obtained a value of 2.94, which can be categorized as quite good, even though it has very little value on technical, institutional, regulatory, and community points participation aspects. According to the evaluation, a TPS-3R planned to accommodate waste produced in Bumi Panyawangan with a limited capacity according to the UKL-UPL of Bumi Panyawangan Housing. The activities in TPS-3R are composting, plastic waste chopping, storage and sale of economic value items, and residue collection.
