Author Guidelines

This page explains how to prepare your article for submission to our journals. The editor of Jurnal Teknik Lingkungan welcomes article submissions in accordance with the following guidelines:  

GENERAL TERMS

Manuscript must be relevant to one of our journal topics. JTL topics can be found here. Manuscript have not been published or accepted for publication, or are being considered for publication at any journal. The author must attach a written statement explaining this issue. In addition, the author must also attach a statement that the article is original and does not contain elements of plagiarism.

Authors should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior are unacceptable. Professional publication articles should also be accurate and objective, and editorial ‘opinion’ works should be clearly identified.

All the Jurnal Teknik Lingkungan publication processes are carried out online (here). Editors do not accept manuscripts by email. Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions. Authors will be sent notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors.

Authors must submit the manuscript (English or Indonesian) in softfile form via online submission, by attaching:

TYPE OF MANUSCRIPT

Types of manuscripts suitable for publication include research article that report original results of primary research, describe new methods or other research tools, describe new datasets, report new cases, conceptual ideas, studies, theory applications, or analyze existing data and report novel insights in form of a systematic or scoping review.

File Formats

Please provide your manuscript in an editable format; any common word processing software is acceptable. Manuscripts are typed 1,5 spaced in a A4 paper size, between 15-20 pages in length including references, pictures, and tables. You can also use a script template (camera ready format) in MS.Word here: (download template MS.Word)

LANGUAGE

Articles are written in Indonesian or English (preferable) using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition. If you use English, please write your text in good English.

MANUSCRIPT ORGANIZATION

Title

Please provide a title that is concise and informative. Ideally it should contain no more than 20 words. Please remember: Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems so please keep in mind that your choice of title may impact how easily readers can discover your article.

Authors

Author name(s), full postal and email addresses for each author. Please indicate who the corresponding author is.

Abstract

The abstract should briefly state the purpose of the research, the principal results, and major conclusions. Abstracts are often presented and read as stand-alone text, so please keep this in mind when writing, and avoid the use of references and abbreviations. An abstract between 100 and 200 words describes the significance of manuscript should be included. The authors should supply 5-10 keyword or phrases that characterizes their manuscript.

Introduction

Please provide adequate background information, while avoiding a detailed literature review, and state the objectives of your work in light of previous findings.

Materials and methods

Please provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced. Previously published methods should be shown in a reference, you only need to describe relevant modifications.

Theory/ calculation (if applicable)

A theory section should extend, not repeat, the background information provided in the introduction, and lay the foundation for further work. In contrast, a calculation section represents a practical development from a theoretical basis. Use the English language and the SI system for measurements and units.

Figures are printed in black & white, while color figures are only available online. Adjust the size of figures and tables as they will be appeared. All figure captions should be legible, minimum 8 point type. For all equations, use either Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType add-on (equation using Office 2007 are not acceptable). Equations are numbered consecutively in parenthesis, e.g. (1), and set at the right margin

Results

Results should be clear and concise.

Discussion

A Discussion should explore the significance of the results of the work, not just repeat them. A combined results and discussion section is often appropriate.

Conclusions

The main conclusion(s) of the study may be presented in a short conclusions section, as a stand-alone section or in form of a subsection of the discussion or results and discussion section.

Acknowledgements

Please collate all acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article, before the references.

References

We encourage the use of the APA reference systems. However, you can use any reference system providing it is sensible and consistent throughout the paper. We will ensure your references adhere to house style during the production process, whatever format you submit them in.
 
A reference should give your reader enough information to locate the article, and you should take care to ensure that the information is correct so that DOI links can be made. The references should be numbered consecutively in the order of their appearance and should be complete, including authors’ initials, the title of the paper, the date, page numbers, and the name of the sponsoring society.

Author whose paper is accepted for publication in Jurnal Teknik Lingkungan is Free 

Peer Review Process

In the reviewing process, there are at least two reviewers for each manuscript in the related topic. In addition, author(s) can also propose the candidate of reviewers. Judgement from the first reviewer will be main priority for editor to make decision, if there are only two reviewers. In case of three reviewers, decision will be made from at least two reviewers. Three weeks will be needed for reviewer to complete one round reviewing process.

Generally, the candidate of reviewers will be chosen based on their reputation in the international publication number and quality. Next step, The Editor send the invitation letter for each candidate of reviewer. After the candidate of reviewer informed their availabilities for reviewing process, Editor create account for each reviewer and then send manuscript by OJS.

All reviewing process are in double blind peer review and managed by editor in the OJS.

Plagiarism

Authors should submit only original work that is not plagiarized and not has been published or being considered elsewhere. Turnitin or other software will be used by the editorial team to check for simmiliarities (text similarity below 15% is acceptable) of submitted manuscript with existing literatures.

Open Access Policy

The journal is open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to users or / institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to full text articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or author.
