Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Journal of Architectural Design, Engineering, and Science (JADES). It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility that we present to you this first issue, dedicated to the theme of "Perspectives on Architectural Design Theory, History, and Concepts."

In this Issue in our first year, we aim to set out a discourse on current Indonesian architects, architectural design, and concepts in terms of their potential enrichment to our understanding of Architecture. The theoretical underpinnings of architectural design and its history serve as the foundation for innovative thinking and academic inquiry in architecture. This edition features articles that delve into various theoretical frameworks, examining how these theories influence design processes and outcomes.

Often criticized for its uniform style across the country, regardless of the local context, Indonesia’s contemporary architecture indeed is not as diverse as its traditional architecture. From that statement only, we could ask how and why the changes happened. If examined in a more detailed manner, there could be numerous other questions arisen from those two questions, such as who led the changes, how they relate to each other, and what are the proposed architectural.

Those are some potentially interesting questions in the discourse on current Indonesian Architecture. This first edition provides other more interesting discussions from academics and scholars in the field. Their diverse perspectives and analyses could enrich the discourse, bringing new Perspective on Indonesian Architectural Theory, History, and Concepts. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all contributors for their dedication and insightful contributions.

As we embark on this new journey with JADES, we are committed to continuing this dialogue and expanding the horizons of architectural scholarship. We hope that this inaugural edition serves as a catalyst for further research, discussion, and collaboration in the fields of architectural design, engineering, and science.

We invite you, our readers, to engage with the ideas presented in this issue, to challenge them, and to build upon them. Your feedback and contributions are invaluable to us as we strive to make JADES a leading platform for architectural knowledge and innovation.

Thank you for joining us in this exciting venture. We look forward to your continued support and participation in the issues to come.
