Abstract

Kata-kata Kunci: Kecelakaan lalu lintas, persepsi pengendara sepeda motor, confirmatory factor analysis, keselamatan berkendara.

Abstract

Motorcycle crashes are one of the most prevalent forms of accidents in Indonesia. One of the causes is motorcycle riders' lack of understanding on safety riding, which frequently results in traffic violations and traffic accidents. The objective of this study is to find out how motorcyclists perceive about safety riding in terms of traffic violations and the usage of safety attributes. The analysis method used is Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with a total number of sampel was 200. Questionnaires were distributed to respondents, i.e., motorcycle riders, residing in the city of Banda Aceh. The findings revealed that traffic violations and the use of safety attributes had a significant impact on safety riding implying that if the respondent follows the traffic rules, it will have an impact on safety riding factors, such as always being cautious and focused while riding, paying attention to the rear-view mirror, and caring about other road users. Although the understanding and awareness of motorcyclists is quite good, it is still recommended that motorcyclists need to be more careful on riding in order to avoid the traffic accidents.
