FOREWORD TO MARCH 2026 EDITION
We are pleased to present Jurnal Sosioteknologi Volume 25 Number 1 (March 2026), an edition that continues our commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship examining the dynamic relationships between technology, culture, society, and the environment. The articles in this issue reflect diverse methodological approaches and empirical contexts, while collectively addressing contemporary sociotechnological challenges relevant to Indonesia and the global community.
This volume opens with an analysis of wastewater management in Cirebon’s batik industry, illustrating how technocultural perspectives and multicriteria decision-making can support environmentally responsible practices within traditional cultural sectors. Discussions on digital creativity and platforms follow, including a study of Jalirupa as an online exhibition prototype and an exploration of a Religious Nusantara tourism platform developed through design thinking, both highlighting innovation at the intersection of culture and digital technology.
Environmental sustainability is another key theme in this issue. An article on ecosystem-based management for pearl farming in West Lombok emphasizes the importance of integrating ecological and sociotechnical perspectives in coastal resource governance. Meanwhile, the development of an AI-driven digital platform for predicting coffee acidity in Bandung Regency demonstrates how data-driven technologies can enhance agricultural quality and regional competitiveness.
Attention to social inclusion and well-being is reflected in studies on innovative office lactation pods as a sociotechnological intervention for gender equality, and on the physical and ocular impacts of mobile media consumption among students. Complementing these are analyses of digital practices in organizational and educational settings, including social media strategies for rural nonprofits and first-year students’ experiences with learning management systems in public universities.
This issue concludes with a book review on human–water entanglements, inviting reflection on the material and relational dimensions of water in shaping social life.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the authors, reviewers, and editorial team for their contributions. We hope this edition enriches scholarly dialogue and inspires further research in sociotechnology.
