Rekayasa Komputasional Sistem Pendingin Kluster Komputer
Abstract
Makalah ini membeberkan proses rekayasa komputasional dalam rangka membangun sistem kluster komputer yang terdinginkan dengan baik. Pendinginan diperlukan karena seluruh komputer dimasukkan dalam satu lemari server secara kompak, padahal selama bekerja masing-masing komputer akan mendisipasikan kalor yang tidak sedikit. Upaya pendinginan dilakukan dengan mengatur peletakan komputer agar konveksi udara alami berjalan lancar, kemudian menambahkan kipas pada posisi yang tepat untuk memberi konveksi paksa yang efektif. Dengan rekayasa komputasional, maka peletakan komputer maupun kipas secara coba-coba bisa dihindari. Hasil simulasi maupun implementasi menunjukkan bahwa suhu udara dalam lemari bisa dijaga dibawah 79oC pada beban komputasi 100%.

Abstract
This paper shows the process of computational engineering in order to build a well cooled computer cluster system. Cooling system is needed because many computers are put into single server cabinet, whereas each computer will dissipate some heat during the work. This cooling system works by arranging the computer position to maximize the natural air convection and adding the fan in the right position to give an effective forced convection. With computational engineering, the trial and error method for computer and fan placement can be avoided. Results from simulation and implementation show the air temperature in server cabinet can be maintained below 79oC at 100% computational load.
